Theme: WATCH AND PRAY

Text: “But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” – 1 Peter 4:7.

Comment: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, has graciously given his sheep (the children of God), the signs which those with seeing eyes and hearing ears in this age should take warning from so as to guard against evil doings and be free from the danger of God’s vengeance by which He will soon clear the earth of all vestiges of wickedness or evil.  But the pity of it is that countless numbers of people in our generation are also given to sensuality or worldliness that they have no time to read the Holy Bible as to avail themselves of the opportunity afforded the sheep of God to escape imminent death or destruction.

The warning of Jesus Christ against surfeiting (excessive eating and drinking), and worldly worries or cares of this life should be taken very seriously by the faithful so as not to indulge in sinful pleasures as the ungodly do (Luke 21:25,26,28-35).  John the Apostle admonished: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” – 1 John 2:15-17.
