Theme: RECEIVING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD
Text: “…Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 19:14.
Comment: During Christ’s ministry on earth, children were brought to him for blessing. This was informed by the fact that it was a custom among the Israelites in ancient times, whereby each child is taken to the priest for presentation to God after the mother’s days of purification. (Leviticus 12:1-8; Luke 2:21, 22) Christ overruled his disciples who attempted to restrict the parents from doing so, and received the children with open arms and blessed them. (Mark 10:16) Truly, for one to be saved in God’s Kingdom, one must show those qualities of little children that are innate in them, innocence, truthfulness, humility, sincerity, forgiveness, etc. “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” – Mark 10:15.
