Theme: AVOIDING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
Text: “Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise.” – Ephesians 6:1, 2
Comment: One of the signs of the last days is that children will be headstrong, heady, self-willed and disobedient to parents. This negative aspect of the signs of these latter times should not fulfill on us who have been exposed to the truth. “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.” (Ephesians 5:11, 12) The problem is that the children of today tend to have the impression that they are more enlightened and civilized than their parents. They see the advice given to them by their parents as outdated. This is very wrong because the Bible is the yardstick for measuring Christian morals or behaviour. Children who know God should be obedient to their parents, as they (the parents) have more experience to guide them aright, having passed through several stages in life. Children are advised not to be lured by the enticing tricks of their peers, so as not to fall victims of circumstances that they will regret later in life. King Solomon advised, “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: for whom the Lord loveth, he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” – Proverbs 3:11,12.
