Text: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” – Matthew 11:29.
Comment: Humility is a virtue that stems from a lowly heart, hence one who is truly humble in life is one who is humble in heart. Jesus Christ admonished his disciples to emulate his virtue of humility as could be seen in the text for today. Christ displayed humbleness of heart when he took a basin of water and washed the feet of his disciples, and instructed them to be humble regardless of their status in life. (John 13:3-15; Matthew 18:1-4) The Psalmist declared: “LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.” – Psalm 131:1, 2. See also Romans 12:3, 16; Proverbs 15:33; 22:4.
