Theme: PRAY AND WAIT ON THE LORD

Text: “Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.” – Psalm 123:1, 2.

Comment: As children of the Most High, we rely on JEHOVAH, the Almighty God for protection, provisions and providence. Our desires, wants, aspirations and challenges are laid before God in prayers because we cannot achieve them on our own. (2 Corinthians 3:5; Psalm 60:11,12) After praying, we should endeavor to wait in Faith. We have nobody else to run to. If we do, we incur the punishment of God. The example of Ahaziah is instructive. He did not rely on God when he was sick but as the Scriptures say: “…Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.” That was the fate of Amaziah. – 2 Kings 1:1-18.
