Theme: The Essence of Self Comportment
Text: “And there was one Anna, …the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about four score and four years, …but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” – Luke 2: 36, 37.
Comment: Apart from the apostles and ministers of Christ, there were also devout men and women, who devoted their lives to the work of God. Their place was guaranteed and very important also: of such was Anna, a widow of “great age” who devoted her entire widowhood to the service of God in the temple, fasting and praying day and night (1 Timothy 5:5) Anna was a faithful devotee in the Lord’s vineyard. She was found faithful, chaste and just, teaching the young women in righteousness. (Titus 2:3-5) She gained the favour of God – honour, length of days, and His provision.
