Theme: WATCH AND PRAY

Text: “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.” – Isaiah 26:20.

Comment: Before one can be saved one must be in a place of security or safety which God has provided.  This is the import of today’s text.  It is in such a place one can effectively watch and pray.  That place is the Lord’s Organization or Kingdom symbolically called “Mountain”. (Matthew 24:15,16)  That is where God’s doctrine or the truth of His word is preached without pollution or corruption.  – 1 Timothy 2:3,4; Psalm 145:18.

Speaking in place of the Almighty God, Ezekiel the Prophet stated: “For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.”    (Ezekiel 20:40).  One can see from this text that the place where one carries out his watching and praying is vital for such activities to have any spiritual value.  Also, such chosen places provide safety and protection in times of trouble which will befall the world soon.  “For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.” – Isaiah 26:21.
