Theme: ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF GOD

Text: “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” – Romans 12:3.

Comment: By nature, human beings inflate their perception of themselves. We are ever at the center of our own mind’s eye, always measuring everything we see and hear against the standard of our own perspective.  For us to abound in Gods service, it is very important we put ourselves in a position to take corrections when we err. (1 Peter 5:6) The person who will abide in the way of God is, to begin with, the one “that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness…”  Those who walk uprightly are known as the meek. This means that they are humble or lowly in heart and do not esteem themselves above what they really are. An example of such upright people was the man Nathaniel, whom Jesus Christ called “an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile”. – John 1:47.
