Theme: MANAGING CHRONIC ILLNESSES

Text:  “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for he is faithful that promised;) – Hebrews 10:22, 23.

Comment:  He is not a Christian who does not submit himself, as Jesus Christ did,  to the will of God.  (Hebrews 12: 1-3) That being so, even when in the throes of chronic illness, we should resist the temptation to seek help from the devil. That would be a damnable blunder for those who have already known the truth. We should recall the case of King Ahaziah who was seriously sick but instead of turning to God for help, sent people to Baalzebub the god of Ekron. “But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die… So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken.” (2 Kings 1:1-18) We should remember that those who for fear of death compromise the faith will lose that life. But those who hold fast, God will preserve their lives for them.- “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” – Matthew 16:25. Also in Luke 9:24.
