Text: “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise” – Psalm 98:4.
Comment: David’s love for music accentuated his keenness to promote music and singing in true worship. In Psalm 33:1, he declared: “Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.” Music sets the pace for what is in one’s heart. The idea of “loud noise” is that of an eruption of praise. We must not sing half-hearted praises to our God. We should sing with everything within us. It would not even be out of line to raise our voices a little with rejoicing. This means to exalt and extend the voice to a high pitch, in the most musical and melodious strains, expressing the intenseness of mind, vehemence of affection with which the Lord should be praised for His great and marvelous works. – Nehemiah 12:43.
