Theme: THE PENNY REWARD
Text: “And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again, he went out about the sixth and ninth hour and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle… He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.” – Matthew 20:3-7.
Comment: As expressed in the main text for the day, the various times in which the labourers were called to work in the vineyard – in the morning, the third, the sixth, the ninth and the eleventh hours – show the different times people of God are called into His Holy Organisation as the growth and expansion of the kingdom is a gradual process. It represents various stages in a person’s life that he or she could be called by God. Some are born into the work of God by virtue of their parents being converts. Others are called when they are middle aged, and some at old age – yet, they are all given the opportunity to prove themselves in the service of God. Whether we started doing the work of God from ancient times or in this age, the important thing is what we make of the call, in that we must labour diligently until the end in order to get salvation by God’s grace. – 2 Peter 1:5-11.
