Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” – Psalm 40:5.
Comment: Thanksgiving, which is an expression of gratitude, is man’s natural response and appreciation of God’s blessings. Knowledge of the fact that God’s plans for us are never of evil, propels us to always be thankful to Him in “every thing… for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18; Jeremiah 29:11) It is just impossible to rate, measure or number God’s goodness in order of importance or greatness since there is no limit to it. (Psalm 40:5) On our part, we can also reflect on ourselves, in counting our blessings, and probably naming them one after the other, we would have cause to bless the name of our Maker, even during the hour of temptation, because of the firm belief in His faithfulness to neither leave nor forsake us, by His grace. – Hebrews 13:5, 6.
