Text: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” – Colossians 2:8.
Comment: In their quest to please worldly governments, some who professed the Christian faith forsook the true doctrines of Jesus Christ and the apostles, and held meetings to device and introduce man-made doctrines and teachings in the Church. They ended up turning the fold to apostate Christians, who do not do God’s will nor follow His ordinances. Thus, the doctrine of devils became introduced and taught in some religious organisations. When people abandon the doctrines of God and lean towards science and traditions of men, it leads to apostasy. St. Paul warned his spiritual son Timothy thus: “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 6:20, 21.
