Ordinarily, the heart is the organ that pumps blood to all parts of the human body, hence it is responsible for the healthy functioning of all parts of the body. Also, the heart is the seat of thought (both good and bad) in man, hence it largely determines the spiritual health condition of an individual based upon which such individual would either be in favour with God or fall out of favour with God.
Text: “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” – Matthew 12:35.
Comment: If the thoughts of a man’s heart are good, such a person is said to have a good heart condition and as a result is inclined to doing good, so too one who has an evil heart condition is inclined to doing or speaking evil. The man Jonadab was described as a very subtle (crafty) man and this was evident in the evil advice he gave to Amnon on how he would satisfy his unwholesome desire with his half-sister. Amnon followed that ungodly advice and defiled his own half-sister, Tamar. (2 Samuel 13:1-20) Persons like Jonadab (being evil) would not be able to offer good advice. Jesus Christ truly said that one who is evil cannot speak good things. – Matthew 12:34.
