Theme: THE BLESSING IN DOING WHAT WE HEAR
Text: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.” – Deuteronomy 28:1.
Comment: God Almighty through Moses the Prophet stated categorically a catalogue of blessings that would come on the Jews if they do all His commandments. These blessings were fruitfulness in their bodies, fruitfulness in their businesses, success in whatever they set their hands to do, prosperity in their endeavors, etc. (Deuteronomy 28:2-14) On the other hand, where they fail to do His commandments, a catalogue of repercussions (curses) would befall them. (Deuteronomy 28:15-68) As true worshippers of God, this is a wake-up call for us to endeavour to live up to God’s expectations/standard in practical terms. Apostle Paul states: “Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God.” – 1 Corinthians 15:34.
