Theme: LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?

Text: “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me”. – Psalm 55:22, 16.

Comment: It is natural for us, mortals, to be saddened by unpleasant situations. This notwithstanding, it is instructive that we remain focused, exercising faith in our Maker – the Almighty Father. Oftentimes, our response to certain conditions which are intended to threaten our faith, go a long way in helping us pull through by God’s grace. King Solomon tells us: “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?” (Proverbs 18:14) Having received the letter containing Sennacherib’s threat to invade Judah, though he was naturally troubled, King Hezekiah exercised faith in God. According to the account, the city was defended by God Almighty, and on the part of Sennacherib, it was his own sons who killed him with a sword. – 2 Kings 18:1-37; 19:1-37, Isaiah 36:1-22, 37: 1-38; Isaiah 26: 3, 4.
