Theme: AVOIDING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Text: “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!” – 2 Samuel 6:20

Comment: The remark of Michal, Saul’s daughter, who was the wife of David, the King of Israel was uncalled for; she lacked spiritual understanding. Instead of giving her husband the needed support and reception as a good wife should do after such an important and joyous occasion of the return of the ark to Jerusalem, she despised and mocked him. The consequence of her utterance was that she became barren for the rest of her life. Some women in the world today are like Michal, they do not have any iota of regard for their husbands, and they address them without respect. See Proverbs 12:4) Some have consciously or unconsciously turned their husbands into effeminates. The danger in the sin of effeminacy is that both the effeminate and his wife are both guilty before God. It is a serious sin which can lead to destruction if they do not repent. (1 Corinthians 6:9) The Bible enjoins wives to submit to their husbands and acknowledge their headship in the Lord. (Ephesians 5:23, 24) “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.” – Proverbs 31:10-12,23.
