Theme: THE DANGER OF APOSTASY

Text: “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” – Ecclesiastes 8:11.

Comment: Solomon the prophet and wisest of his days observed that men tend to harden their hearts in wickedness when no one reprimands them. In verse 12 of the text under reference, he continued: “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him”. This shows that apostasy starts with finding pleasure in sin and continuing in sin without a prick of conscience. Gradually, one loses the fear of God in him, thereby treating godly things with contempt and thinking there are no consequences.

As Christians, we should guide our steps and have the fear of God at all times knowing there are consequences for any action we take. – 2 Corinthians 5:10.
