Theme: MANAGING CHRONIC ILLNESSES

Text: “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:7.

Comment: God wants His children to maintain a high standard of hygiene. He directed that when the Jews want to ease themselves, they should go outside the camp and dig a hole and cover it up. (Deuteronomy 23:12,13) “For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp…that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.” (Deuteronomy 23:14) Human beings are higher than beasts and should show a higher standard of neatness. – Job 35:11

Anything unclean is bad for the health and comfort of people. If we can keep a clean environment, it is expected that we should strive to keep a clean mind.  (2 Corinthians 7:1) Until a couple centuries ago, waste was not properly disposed of and diseases bred commonly and quickly. Up until World War 1, more soldiers died from disease than in the war because they did not bury their human waste. Experts say that the medical instructions given by Moses to the Israelites some 3500 years ago were not only far superior to the practices of contemporary cultures, they also exceeded medical standards practiced as recently as 100 years ago. “Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” – Deuteronomy 4:6.
