Theme: DEMANDS OF TRUE DISCIPLESHIP

Text: “It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord…” – Matthew 10:25.

Comment: As the one sent by God into this world to show man the way to salvation, Jesus Christ is Our Lord and Master, and at different times he was acknowledged and addressed as “Lord” or “Master” in the Holy Bible. – Luke 17:11-13;  Matthew 15:21-22; etc.

Jesus Christ gave a clarion call to us to come to him and learn his qualities as his true disciples when he said: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30.

One of the exemplary qualities displayed by Jesus Christ which we should emulate is humility and obedience as stated by St. Paul in – Philippians 2:5-8.

As Christians living in this age of the end of a world filled with various forms of evil practices and social vices, St. Paul  admonished us to PUT ON JESUS CHRIST, that is, emulating, cultivating and imbibing the exemplary characteristics of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ when he said: “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed… But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lust thereof.” – Romans 13:11,14.
