Theme: OBJECT LELSSONS FROM THE LIFE AND EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL

Text: “When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee”. – Proverbs 2:10,11.

Comment: It happened that during his arraignment before the council, Saint Paul, seeing that his audience were made up of Sadducees, and the others, Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.” With this disclosure, “there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided,” The Pharisees who were among his accusers, immediately came to his defence, saying, “We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.” (Acts 23:1-9). For us, we should emulate the virtues of being circumspect, tactful, knowledgeable, and discreet, by the grace of God. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ charged his disciples in Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
