Theme: Fruits of the Spirit

Text: “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” – 1 Corinthians 13:2.Text: “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you.” – 2 Corinthians 10:1.

Comment: Gentleness is a sublime virtue which means “calmness of character, kindness, tender-hearted”, etc. Apostle Paul used the term, “meekness and gentleness of Christ” to mean the calm, forgiving and non-retaliatory disposition of the Lord Jesus and his submissiveness to accomplish the will of his Father even at the expense of his life. (Hebrews 5:8) One major characteristics of true discipleship is emulating the noble ideals of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you,” (John 13:15.) As genuine Christians, we should pray for the gift of the spirit of gentleness which in the sight of God is of great value. Compare 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; 14:12; James 1:5-7
